In software-defined vehicles, early availability of in-vehicle communication is critical. This paper investigates how two low-level networking methods—Raw Socket and PCAP—affect the startup delay of SOME/IP services on an NXP S32G embedded Linux platform. Experimental results reveal that Raw Socket consistently achieves minimal delays (13–15 ms), whereas PCAP experiences considerably longer and more variable latencies (150–235 ms), largely due to library initialization overhead. These findings highlight the importance of selecting an appropriate networking interface in time-critical automotive applications. Future work will explore additional APIs (e.g., AF_XDP, DPDK) and expand performance metrics beyond startup delay.
