Harnessing IoT, blockchain, and interconnected devices for Business 4.0
Basudha Dewan · 2025
The convergence of Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain technology, and interconnected devices is driving a paradigm shift in how businesses operate in the era of Business 4.0. IoT would facilitate the peer-to-peer exchange of data if one has smart sensors and connected devices, but blockchain ensures complete transparency, security, and integrity in the system through a decentralized ledger system. All this brings strengths of real-time analytics, predictive insights, and self-governing systems to the table, and subsequently businesses are challenged to drive decision-making and respond with data-driven solutions with customer-centric approaches. This chapter investigates how these technologies can be applied in factory settings, healthcare, retails, and supply chain management; it touches on some of the significant issues such as scalability, interoperability, the right to data privacy, and regulatory compliance. This discussion shows the roadmap for the organization looking to and striving for the survival of an increasingly interconnected world and increasingly digital business environment.
