Qasem S. Abu Al-Haija, Shahad Altamimi · 2025
Protecting important buildings and infrastructure from cyberattacks is crucial in today&s;s digital realm. This chapter digs into cybersecurity and forensics, specifically Critical Infrastructure (CI) and Virtual Infrastructure (VI). It examines these facilities&s; vulnerabilities and the possible implications of cyberattacks, such as service outages and national security risks. The chapter examines threat intelligence, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), access controls, and CI Protection (CIP) techniques and technologies. It also underlines the need for digital forensics in the incident investigation of cyber events that impact CI, preserve evidence, and identify offenders. Drawing on real-world examples, this chapter offers significant ideas for security professionals, politicians, and researchers seeking to improve VI and CI resilience to cyber threats in an interconnected world.
