In the rapidly advancing technological era, Internet of Things (IoT) is proliferating in almost all aspects of daily life including smart homes, smart cities, and smart infrastructure. To facilitate the development of the smart world, millions of devices are being connected with each other, demanding more communication channels and data transferring capabilities. IoT devices are also being involved in critical applications, such as for smart home security and medical facilities. Through the IoT sensors, the data being generated in real-time poses several challenges, such as, high resource consumption, heterogeneous data dissemination, information exchange leading to security and privacy concerns. In addition, the heterogeneity, and huge volumes of data poses challenges of data transformation, storage, and processing in a secure way. The increasing amount of data transformation shall lead to the depletion of communication channels and resources, thus, demanding to build new communication infrastructure which will be very time-consuming and costly. With a significant increase of data transmission and the requirement of minimal delay, securing the data from tampering has also become vital. For the future development of smart infrastructures, the issues regarding amount and security of data transmission need tremendous attention. Existing research mostly focuses on enhancing the communication protocols to improve security, however, data aggregation and data compression in a secure way still requires additional exploration of leveraging advanced and optimized techniques. This research paper proposes to minimize the volume of data being transferred and secure it using a cryptographic approach. The main aim is the data size reduction and make it secure by using lightweight cryptography. The proposed approach shall further aid the end-to-end (E2E) secure data transmission among IoT devices.
