Although the Internet of Things is universally acknowledged as being a crucial component of smart healthcare, it presents significant privacy and security problems. Traditional approaches often involve explicitly gathering and managing each user’s access privileges in a database, which can get extremely large and difficult to manage as the user base increases; these approaches are unable to offer a scalable, effective, and manageable solution. To overcome these limitations, the proposed framework leverages smart contracts and blockchain to present a decentralized and scalable access control framework. Using the Bloom filter, the framework enables rapid access-permission checks without the need for extensive database searching. Incorporating the delegation mechanism further improves scalability, allowing authorized users to delegate access. The experimental results validate the feasibility of the framework, demonstrating a low false-positive rate, improved efficiency, and a computation time of 0.50085 ms.
