Planning ALM for Your Copilot Agents
Jared Matfess · 2025
The role of IT in many organizations is a careful balance between enabler and gatekeeper. IT plays a key role in helping to introduce new technologies, automate business processes, and provide the business with access to data to make important decisions. This chapter helps to establish application lifecycle management (ALM) so that we can deploy agents and have a safe path to make updates or changes without impacting users as they continue to interact with our agent. It starts by helping us understand the ALM framework that will enable this safe development and deployment process. The chapter covers the need for an environment strategy to put this idea into practice. ALM starts with requirements gathering. In the development stage of ALM, we start to bring our design to life through a combination of configuration and potential full-code development, depending on our business use case or any integrations with third-party applications.
