Traditional hydropower unit monitoring systems suffer from fragmented device distribution, low data transmission efficiency, and excessive maintenance costs and there are technical blockades and supply chain risks. To address these challenges, this study proposes an integrated measurement and control system architecture, developed using domestically designed hardware in China. The system integrates monitoring, control, excitation and protection modules through high-speed serial bus, with the GigaDevice GD32F450VET6 ARM and GOWIN FPGA as core components, constructs a modular hardware architecture. The system supports remote data monitoring and control by incorporating 4G wireless communication and cloud platform technologies. The system can exhibit high self-controllability, thus providing a new approach for the intelligent upgrade of hydroelectric units.
