Evolutionary algorithms are direct global optimisation techniques that draw inspiration from biological evolution processes. There are two main methods for integrating these algorithms with fuzzy logic. In the first approach, evolutionary algorithms are used to optimise fuzzy structure search problems and produce genetic fuzzy systems (GFZs). The second strategy focuses on describing the elements of adaptive algorithms and modifying the control variables through fuzzy logic techniques to enhance the algorithm’s general effectiveness. Fuzzy evolutionary algorithms are created by combining fuzzy reasoning with evolutionary algorithms. In this chapter, fuzzy algorithm evolution and genetic fuzzy structures are introduced, along with an outline of recent advancements in the field and our forecasts for emerging trends and future directions. The objective is to present a comprehensive examination of both areas of study, emphasising the advantages of combining algorithm evolution with fuzzy logic.
