Abstract Human–machine collaboration (HMC) refers to an idea where humans and machines work equally and complement each other’s strengths. Technology-driven HMC is revolutionizing industries by combining human intelligence with machines’ precision, efficiency, and scalability. At the heart of this transformation are Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, augmented reality, and the Internet of Things, playing a unique and complementary role, in enhancing productivity, safety, and flexibility in different settings. This chapter explores the current state of these technologies within HMCs and the application and uses of these technologies in enhancing collaboration. The study discusses the evolution of collaborative technologies and the future of these technologies empowering humans and increasing efficiency. As these technologies evolve, the boundary between human and machine capabilities will continue to blur, leading to a future where humans and machines collaborate seamlessly across diverse sectors.
