Internet of Things (IoT) devices, such as thermostats, lights, and outlets, have become increasingly widespread in residential and industrial environments, enabling users to manage them remotely. While individual IoT devices are often manageable through Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) software applications, managing devices from various OEM origins simultaneously or even customized devices can be challenging and tedious. A central hub, such as an IoT gateway, enables wireless connectivity to supported protocols. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is a widely used wireless communication protocol integrated into IoT devices and is therefore employed in many IoT gateways. Large-scale IoT networks greatly benefit from an IoT gateway, as all connected devices can be directly managed from a single central point. OEMs of IoT gateways may provide developers with a software development kit (SDK) to enable customization of their applications, allowing them to attain specific design requirements. This paper examines the development and implementation of IoT solutions to acquire sensor data from several customized BLE-enabled printed circuit boards (PCBs). With the aid of the IoT gateway’s SDK and its extensive library of sample programs, two applications are developed to display the sensor data: a serial terminal program and a dynamic website.
