Blockchain-Enabled E-Commerce Platforms: Enhancing Trust and Transparency

Selina Andersson, Nils Bergström · International Academic Journal of Innovative Research · 2025

This research analyzes how blockchain technology can improve trust and transparency in e-commerce. It examines how the problems of fraud, lack of data privacy, and insufficient visibility into the supply chain can be solved through blockchain’s decentralization, immutability, and cryptographic features. This work aims to design a blockchain- enabled e-commerce system bottom up. Through extensive literature reviews, this work seeks to expose critical user confidence and operational clarity mechanisms. These mechanisms unlock optimized user trust and interaction within the system. It was concluded that although challenges such as scalability and widespread adoption remain, blockchain provides a solid foundation for secured transactions, guaranteed product verification, and clear reputation systems which enable trust in the digital marketplace.
