The Internet of Things (IoT) devices have drastically emerged during the last decade. Despite this fact, attackers are attracted to it because of its computing restrictions, substandard login credentials, absence of intrusion defense, backdoors, insufficient safeguarding modernization, and obsolete IoT appliances. These vulnerabilities and safeguarding deficiencies increase the possibility of cyberattacks and pose the biggest threat to safety investigators in the IoT infrastructure. The aim of this review paper is to provide a benchmark study for future researchers and professionals working in the field of IoT security. This review paper examines the primary attack vectors for IoT devices, such as their architecture, domain layers, and other security issues. It then discusses emerging strategies to protect these devices, mainly using AI and machine learning to lower the risks. In addition, this paper includes the capabilities of ML and AI technologies to mitigate the IoT hazards.
