Introduction of IoT-Blockchain in Smart Healthcare

Manoj Kumar, S. B. Goyal, Urmila Pilania · 2025

The Internet of Things (IoT) when integrated with blockchain signifies how medical records can be managed, stored, and utilized in smart healthcare. Wearable IoT devices collect real-time data from patients. This collected data could be utilized for continuous remote patient monitoring and personalized care using blockchain. The decentralized and immutable nature of blockchain guarantees the safety of data. IoT and blockchain in integration address the serious challenges in healthcare such as the security of healthcare data, integrity, management of resources in hospitals, and administrative processes. The assurance of information security in miscellaneous healthcare systems during transmission improves patient outcomes, optimizes resource organization, and encourages patient-centric methods of healthcare. The proposed research work covers IoT and blockchain usage in smart healthcare, including its applications, benefits, and issues that need to be overcome for its implementation.
