Enhancing English short video teaching through VR and Edge-driven deep learning frameworks

Zhitong Cheng, Maoen Lou, Liangjin Lu · Australian Journal of Electrical & Electronics Engineering · 2025

This research proposes a novel framework that integrates Virtual Reality (VR) technology with big data edge computing and deep learning to enhance English short video-based teaching. The core of this design is the innovative integration of distributed video coding, neural feature separation, and real-time adaptive feedback, which synergistically provide high-fidelity audiovisual delivery and customised learning experiences. A controlled experiment involving 46 students, split between traditional and VR-based instruction groups, was conducted using measurement criteria such as vocabulary judgement, dialogue completion, and translation accuracy. The findings illustrate that the VR group achieved a 100% pass rate and a 43% excellence rate, dramatically surpassing the control group in all aspects of language proficiency except one. This research highlights the revolutionary potential of intelligent VR systems in revolutionising language education.
