Single image super-resolution using Gabor response-weighted interpolation

This paper proposed a novel interpolation-based super-resolution (SR) algorithm. The proposed algorithm utilizes the novel Gabor response-weighted interpolation scheme to interpolate the edge areas of an image that was chosen with the adaptive edge and non-edge area isolation method. The proposed method was assessed with multiple images from notable datasets, and its performance was analysed qualitatively and quantitatively, followed by a comparison with seven other notable image SR algorithms. The experiments also covered the edge-based image quality analysis that provides a thorough analysis of the proposed method's output images’ structural, textural, and edge quality. The proposed method provides consistent, high-quality output images, ultimately yielding better visual perception.
