Multi-Sensor Data Fusion Technology for Unmanned Driving: Challenges and Solutions
Huixiang Ruan, Huiming Shen · 2025
Multi-sensor data fusion technology for driverless driving is one of the key technologies to realize autonomous vehicles. Driverless cars need to sense the surrounding environment in real time, including other vehicles, pedestrians, road signs, traffic lights, and the state of the road itself. To achieve this goal, driverless cars are typically equipped with a variety of sensors, such as radar (RADAR), lidar (LiDAR), camera (Camera), ultrasonic sensor (Ultrasonic Sensor), and inertial measurement unit (IMU). These sensors each have different working principles, advantages and limitations, so their data needs to be integrated through data fusion technology to obtain more accurate and reliable environmental perception results. Based on this, this paper for the unmanned sensor data fusion technology research, from the intelligent unmanned vehicle based on the sensor information fusion environment awareness system, analysis of unmanned sensor data fusion technology challenges, and put forward the unmanned sensor data fusion technology challenge solution.
