Drones, formerly known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), are a part of cyber-physical systems (CPS), which include physical, networking, and computational processes. Drones can be integrated into the infrastructure of smart cities through Internet of Things (IoT). CPS can be connected to the IoT and offer IoT services by being online around the clock at any time and from any location. Drones are inexpensive, adaptable, easy to deploy, easy to reprogram during a mission, capable of measuring area and distance virtually anywhere, and skilled at operating in both controlled and uncontrolled airspace. In today’s fast-paced world, drone use has rapidly spread across many industries. However, with this rapid growth comes an urgent need for robust drone cybersecurity measures. Securing drones from cyber threats is a critical concern in the drone industry. It needs a specialized cutting-edge solution that safeguards drones from cyber threats while ensuring data protection. This chapter aims to highlight the importance of a secure network of drones and investigates the recently proposed schemes to mitigate the cybersecurity threats for the IoT-aided drones.
