In this article, the Lightweight Java Gaming Library (LWJGL) is used to develop and implement a lightweight 2D gaming engine with an emphasis on GPU optimization. Sprite rendering, scene management, entity-component architecture, and rudimentary physics were all supported by the engine, which was created from the ground up. Shader-based animation, batching draw calls, and effective texture management are some of the main optimizations. The efficiency of GPU-focused design in real-time gaming engines is validated by experimental findings that demonstrate higher frame rates and lower GPU load.
