In the era of digital transactions, Electronic-Wallet (e-Wallet) has become a popular and convenient mode of payment. However, ensuring security of sensitive payment data, and Customer’s anonymity is one of most significant but crucial concern. After an extensive literature survey it is found that all the existing traditional e-Wallet architectures and/or schemes are either vulnerable to various security attacks or has not satisfied the significant security requirement. Therefore, to address these concerns we have proposed an e-Wallet architecture with the integration of modern Blockchain and Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Accordingly, we have incorporated a Blockchain-based Payment Gateway into it that processes and/or manages the payment request verification and authorization system. Further, the informal security analysis of the proposed architecture is performed which proves that the immutable property of Blockchain technology ensure data integrity whereas the decentralization nature of Blockchain technology satisfies the Customer’s anonymity. Conversely, the use of NFC tagged Customer and Merchant smart mobile devices ensures data confidentiality. Thus, the proposed Blockchain-assisted NFC-based e-Wallet Architecture is secure, reliable, and feasible for processing and/or managing digital transaction in the real-world Electronic-Commerce (e-Commerce) and/or Banking frameworks.
