Application of Machine Learning in the Field of Forensic Fingerprint Sciences

In the field of forensic fingerprint science, machine learning has improved the accuracy and efficiency of pattern recognition and classification. Previous methods of fingerprint identification that use the help of a specialist are quite laborious and contain a high level of inaccuracy. Advanced methods of machine learning, especially deep learning, can automatically extract the features, have a better ability to match the fingerprints, and decrease the time taken for the process. They are also capable of managing large databases thereby enhancing the efficiency of the fingerprint identification process in criminal cases. With the application of AI technology to forensic analysis, there is a decrease in biases in the system and stronger evidence is provided.
