Impact of Mobility on Trickle Timer Algorithm under IoV Applications

V. C. Diniesh · 2025

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a ground breaking cutting edge technology that impacts all aspects of daily modern living. Hence the development of the Low-Power and Lossy Networks (LLNs) has made the mobility of tiny sensor nodes an essential need for a numerous range of IoT, IoV applications. Here the LLNs nodes which need to use IPV6 protocol stack over RPL routing protocols. However, the network maintaining and controlling depends on Trickle timer algorithm. However trickle timer has configuration parameters setting need where this algorithm falls short. Thus, motivated by this to conduct the study and analysis of existing Trickle timer under IoV. Finally the performance of trickle timer along with existing RPL objective function is simulated on ContikNG an open source simulator under various performance metrics such as PDR, energy and control packet overhead under random walk and manhattan grid IoV mobility environment.
