Balancing Anonymity and Accountability: Electronic Voting Scheme Using Traceable Ring Signatures
K.F. Chen, Yungui Chen, Dingyun Sui, Liwei Tian · 2025
This study proposes an anonymous electronic voting scheme based on Traceable Ring Signature (TRS) to address the balance between anonymity and preventing double voting in electronic voting systems. Traditional electronic voting systems face challenges preventing double voting while ensuring voter privacy. Existing solutions often rely on complex cryptographic primitives and centralized trusted authorities, resulting in high system complexity and limited scalability. In this paper, we design a complete system model, clearly defining the roles and interaction processes of four entities: voter, registration center, tallying center and auditor. We also construct a core set of algorithms, including key generation, voting signature, verification aggregation, and traceable auditing. Experimental results demonstrate that the algorithms exhibit efficient CPU runtime, minimal memory consumption, and compact data structures, making them well- suited for practical implementation in electronic voting systems. This research guides the construction of efficient and reliable electronic voting systems.
