Security of the data in telemedicine is highly essential; therefore, there is a dire need to develop algorithms that preserve the data transmitted. Steganography provides confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity. Basically, it is an attempt to achieve secure and undetectable communication. It significantly hides data from unwanted eyes. It is the hiding of files within another folder. The work deals with the important issue of security and confidentiality of a patient's information when exchanging or storing medical images. The data is embedded in the medical scanned images through the combined approach using both cryptography and steganography. The patient's information and diagnosis by the doctor both serve as confidential information, hence treated as secret data. Therefore, the proposed algorithm attempts to keep this secret data secure and, at the same time, make the treatment fast and accurate. Seeking the goal of the work, we had to follow three major approaches: data encryption using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), data compression using Arithmetic Compression (AC), and data hiding using the Least Significant Bit (LSB) algorithm. The obtained results show superiority over the existing results.
