The increasing urbanization demands a robust and essential smart city infrastructure. This survey paper investigates the integration of Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Blockchain technologies within smart city infrastructures, assessing their impact on sustainability, efficiency, and citizen well-being. The survey paper studied several works that targeted various implementations of urban-related spheres such as public safety, waste management, energy management, urban planning, transportation, and environmental monitoring. The survey reveals widespread adoption of both IoT and AI, with AI enhancing decision-making processes through data analysis and optimization and IoT providing real-time data for improved monitoring and responsiveness across numerous city services. Nevertheless, data security, interoperability, and ethical issues are still challenging. Future research should focus on overcoming identified barriers to fully realize the potential of these technologies in creating more sustainable and livable cities.
