The integrity and safety of forensic evidence are fundamental to unbiased court rulings. Still, conventional systems for managing evidence usually have vices that may compromise court procedures, including wrong handling, non-transparency, and manipulation of data. By providing an immutable, decentralized, and transparent system for the protection of forensic evidence, blockchain technology presents a potential solution. Blockchain technology employs consensus mechanisms and cryptographic hashing to ensure that evidence cannot be tampered with once it is stored. This stops undesired changes and gives digital forensic analysis more confidence. In order to guarantee that every interaction with the evidence is recorded and permanently verified, blockchain technology also makes it possible to follow the chain of custody in real time. Smart contracts lower the possibility of human error and boost efficiency by further automating adherence to evidence-handling procedures. Using blockchain technology in forensic evidence management, police enforcement and law enforcement agencies may greatly safeguard data, demonstrate the validity of evidence, and build trust in courts about web-based investigations. Considering forensic operations, the present study investigates the advantages, drawbacks, and potential of blockchain technology in digital forensics.
