Design Space Exploration through Architecture Driven High-Level Synthesis

Structured architecture synthesis tool (SAST) is an architecture driven high-level synthesis tool which works with some high-level architectural parameters (number of architec-tural blocks, number of access links and number of buses) which determine the final structure of the datapath generated. In this paper we highlight the ability of SAST to easily explore the design space by varying these architectural parameters characterising the datapath structure. The experimental results validate the underlying synthesis paradigm based on structure architecture and the utility of SAST in exploring the design space using the design parameters. The results clearly demonstrate the optimised nature of designs generated by SAST.
