Enhancing RSA Security with Randomized Montgomery Exponentiation: A Practical Leakage Resilience Analysis
Venkata Reddy Kolagatla, Vivian Desalphine · 2025
This research investigates the vulnerability of RSA implementations to side-channel attacks and proposes effective countermeasures to enhance their security. This research focuses on the implementation randomized Montgomery Modular Exponentiation (RME) to suppress side channel attacks, which introduce a high degree of randomization into cryptographic processes. This randomization obscures power consumption patterns and timing information, making it significantly more challenging for attackers to extract sensitive information. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of these countermeasures, showing a marked reduction in susceptibility to side-channel attacks compared to existing implementations. The proposed algorithms exhibit strong resistance to information leakage, highlighting the importance of incorporating randomization and other security measures into cryptographic designs. The findings of this research have significant implications for the design and implementation of secure cryptographic systems.
