Enhancing Interview Skills through Virtual Reality – A Usability Study

Ushna Tasleem, Tehreem Qamar · 2025

Virtual reality (VR) has become a transformative technology, impacting fields such as healthcare, rehabilitation, education, and training. Unlike traditional systems, VR’s immersive and interactive nature lacks standardized usability metrics, making it difficult to evaluate and improve user experience. This gap is especially critical in applications like interview training, where the effectiveness of VR hinges on user engagement, realism, and ease of use. This paper addresses the issue by conducting an observational study with undergraduate students, focusing on enhancing interview skills via VR, the impact of AI avatars on engagement and confidence, and comparing VR simulations with traditional methods. Additionally, a proposed questionnaire is developed to assess and enhance the usability of VR-based systems, systematically evaluating user experience with a focus on key aspects such as engagement, realism, and overall effectiveness in virtual environments.
