Basica: A Lightweight Interpreted Language for Streamlined Mobile Development

Dhruv, Madeeha Shahid, Harsh Goel, Raghav Verma · 2025

This article discusses the development of Basica—a programming language specifically designed for creating applications, with a focus on simplicity in coding and understanding processes for novice coders without sacrificing performance quality compared to more complex languages. Basica's syntax is straightforward. Aims to make coding accessible to beginners while still ensuring functionality standards are met at all levels of programming expertise. The interpreter for Basica was created using Python. Includes components like a lexer and parser along, with an error management system to aid in code execution and debugging procedures. The Basica design aims to enhance performance levels with a focus, on applications that require speeds similar, to native apps. This study explores the structure and potential applications of Basica in development specifically. It also highlights the possibility of Basica evolving into a mobile development framework that can reduce the learning curve and time required for programmers.
