Rama Bhardwaj, Rohit Jangid, Raghav Ojha · 2025

The emergence of 5G technology marks a revolutionary advancement in mobile communication, delivering unparalleled speed, reduced latency, and massive connectivity to support innovative use cases suchas autonomous vehicles, smart cities, and the Internet of Things (IoT).However, the deployment of 5G networks introduces a complex landscape of security challenges that extend beyond those of previous generations.Thesechallengesariseduetotheintegrationofsoftwaredefinednetworks(SDN),networkslicing, and edge computing, which expand the attack surface and create novel vulnerabilities. This paper explores the key security concerns in 5G networks, including vulnerabilities in signaling protocols, threats to user privacy, and risks stemming from the proliferation of IoT devices.Additionally, it examines the unique risks associated with supply chain security, malicious insider activity, and the global standardization of network infrastructure. To address these concerns, this study analyzes emerging solutions such as zero-trust architecture, robust encryption mechanisms, and the role of artificial intelligence in threat detection and mitigation .
