Guilherme Marins Maciel, Fátima Sousa Fona, Germano Caovilla, Sofia Cimino Silveira, Bruna Araujo Cavaca · 2025

This article presents the development of an autonomous smart window integrated with Internet of Things (IoT) technology, with the aim of promoting greater sustainability and security in residential and commercial environments. The project highlights the importance of ventilation and natural lighting in improving air quality and preventing respiratory diseases, while addressing energy savings related to air conditioning systems that, in some households, can exceed 50%. The window employs sensors to monitor environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, light intensity, and the presence of toxic gases, enabling automated control that adapts to both user needs and external conditions. In addition, it is equipped with a camera for remote monitoring. The prototype testing demonstrated excellent performance, which confirmed the efficiency of the sensors and the stability of the connectivity. With large-scale implementation, this technology has the potential to significantly contribute to safer, more comfortable, and sustainable environments, aligned with sustainability guidelines and the promotion of public health.
