Parametric array loudspeakers (PALs) produce highly directional audible sound and can be combined with electro-dynamic loudspeakers (EDLs) to extend the frequency range of sound field reproduction. However, spectral distortion occurs when combining EDLs with PALs for sound field reconstruction. This paper proposes a two-stage method to reduce the distortion of the hybrid loudspeaker system. In the first stage, all-pass filters are employed for phase equalization to compensate for the deep notches in the crossover region. The optimal filter coefficients are determined using a genetic algorithm. In the second stage, magnitude equalizers are designed to mitigate the effects of environmental reflections, enhancing the sound quality in real environments. Finally, experimental results demonstrate the desired flat magnitude response of the hybrid system in a room, validating the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
