Smart Beamforming: Leveraging In-Memory Computing for Intelligent Wireless Systems
Mojtaba Mahdavi · 2025
In the realm of smart systems, efficient signal processing is paramount, particularly in applications such as smart cities and autonomous vehicles, where rapid decision-making is critical. In this context, beamforming emerges as a key technique that enhances communication efficiency by steering signals toward intended targets while minimizing interference. This paper presents an innovative approach that integrates in-memory computing (IMC) with beamforming to embed the required computations directly within memory arrays, thereby significantly reducing data movement and associated delays. Our findings demonstrate that the IMC-based beamforming approach surpasses conventional methods in latency, throughput, and flexibility. This makes it highly suitable for real-time applications in smart systems and addressing the growing demands of next-generation smart technologies.
