Large Model Cognitive Radio: Software-Defined Radios and Advanced Language Models
J. de Curtò, I. de Zarzà · 2024
In this paper, we introduce Large Model Cognitive Radio (LMCRO), a novel framework that synergizes software-defined radios (SDR) with advanced Large Language Models (LLMs) to advance wireless communication. By integrating state-of-the-art SDR hardware platforms with cutting-edge LLMs, such as GPT-4, LMCRO offers adaptability, efficiency, and user-friendliness in dynamic wireless environments. The system lever-ages continuous environmental sensing and real-time adaptation to optimize its operating parameters, ensuring optimal performance under varying conditions. A natural language interface enables intuitive user interaction, while collaborative learning across multiple LMCRO systems fosters a distributed intelligence network, enhancing the system's adaptability and resilience. We detail the theoretical framework underpinning LMCRO, encompassing SDR configuration, LLM integration, sensing and adaptation mechanisms, and collaborative learning strategies.
