In the rapidly evolving maker culture, desktop laser cutting machines have emerged as a crucial tool for DIY enthusiasts due to their compact size and high precision. However, the complexity of laser cutting technology entails a steep learning curve for traditional laser cutting machines, introducing cognitive barriers and resulting in a suboptimal user experience. To address the research gap in the user experience design methods for desktop laser cutting machines, this study first conducts a preliminary list of user needs through qualitative analysis of existing desktop laser cutting machines. Subsequently, a questionnaire survey is used to quantitatively analyze these user needs. Finally, a Kano model is established to summarize the cognitive needs of users regarding desktop laser cutting machines, providing a theoretical basis for user experience design methods. The feasibility of these methods is verified through design solutions. This study aims to alleviate the cognitive load users face when operating desktop laser cutting machines, providing a more user-friendly interface to enhance operational efficiency and reduce cognitive barriers.
