Increasing demands in medical drugs may happen due to rising risks in drug safety. This is controlled by improving transparency and traceability throughout the entire supply chain. Traditionally, many pharmaceutical businesses have implemented centralized/distributed database-based traceability technologies to enhance transparency and regulate medication quality. Integrating drug stakeholders along with data-sharing supply chain is still difficult, though, because of the possibility of data manipulation and conflicts of interest. Challenges involving drug safety, authenticity, and distribution constitute a serious concern for the pharmaceutical industry. Illegal tampering and counterfeiting of medical drugs slow down the supply chain and, in the end, place patients at risk. A Drug Tracking System employing the ability of blockchain technology and IoT-enabled smart containers is proposed for an airtight and transparent pharmaceutical supply chain. The environmental parameters including temperature, humidity, vibration, and GPS location are being monitored during transportation by IoT sensors in the proposed system. So it works as real-time compliance monitoring by controlling environmental conditions. Also, wherever any deviation happens in environmental conditions, alerts are sent to stakeholders to save the drug quality from otherwise inevitable deterioration.
