This study employs an agent-based simulation to com- pare the effectiveness of open-source and closed-source software development models in terms of bug resolution over time. By simulating bug generation and elimination processes within each development model, the research evaluates the number of bugs fixed by the Linux and Windows development teams. The simulation, which features agent-based models for bugs and developers, records and charts bug resolution rates to provide insights into each model’s performance. Despite some limitations in replicating real-world dy- namics, the findings suggest that while both models show consistent bug resolution rates, the current simulation framework requires enhancements for more accurate real-world representation. Future work should incorporate more detailed data and refined simulation techniques to reflect the complexities of software development better
