Blinded RSA: A Proposed Solution for Factorization and Side-Channel Attacks

The Blinded RSA algorithm is a secure way through which data can be encrypted. It may be seen as a variation of the original RSA algorithm where the blinding factor is added to the encryption process. As such, this means that the blinding factor would make it less easy to analyze the ciphertext and draw out sensitive information. Encryption time and memory usage between the original RSA and blinded RSA have been compared in the present study. According to the findings, it takes blinded RSA a consistently more extensive time to encrypt and decrypt any message length than the original RSA at any message length. However, for each type of message, the amount of memory used is identical between the original and blinded RSA. The specific needs of the application dictate whether to use original RSA or blinded RSA. Enhanced RSA is the most suitable form of RSA when privacy is critical in an application-for example, online voting, secure messaging, and dealing with sensitive financial or medical records. There are applications where performance is critical, and hence, original RSA still stands.
