Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are attracting much attention owing to their unique features distinguishing them from traditional ones, especially in systems of the Internet of Things (IoT). Due to the deficiencies in meeting the needs of dynamic and resource-constrained contexts, traditional methods cannot adapt to the widespread use of next-generation sensors in extensive deployments which require high data security, route optimization, and energy efficiency. This paper presents a Secure Data Aggregation and Routing Protocol for IoT-Integrated Sensor Networks (SDAR-IoT) protocol that will provide energy efficiency, extend network lifetime, and provide data security in IoT-integrated WSNs. First, the proposed framework uses unequal clustering to deal with the energy hole problem, then, it uses the A star algorithm for efficient and dynamic routing. A lightweight technique based on XOR protects data from malevolent attacks, with strong security at low computation cost. Simulation results show that the proposed model outperforms the most current protocols concerning energy consumption, packet delivery ratio, network duration, and data security, thus making it an option for IoT-enabled sensor networks.
