Abstract Sub-Committee D of the Select Committee on Science and Technology is examining the prospects for the UK computer industry in the 1970’s, including the possibilities of international collaboration and the functions of government in this field both as policy maker and user. Its chairman is Mr Airey Neave MP, see The Computer Bulletin last month, which also carried a report of Session One – ICL. The Society’s memorandum was presented at Session Five. BCS representatives at the hearing were: Professor S. Gill FBCS (Past President), Mr A. d’Agapeyeff FBCS (Deputy President), Mr E. L. Willey FBCS. In a preamble, the formation and growth of the Society were outlined up to the present activities in connection with Professional Examinations and the Code of Conduct.
