MEASUREMENTS OF WIND SPEED AND TURBULENCE BY THE IMAGE DISTORTIONS OF REMOTE OBJECTS

Simultaneous measurements of the horizontal wind speed vector and turbulence intensity in the atmosphere were performed using a passive optical method based on recording optical images of remote observation objects. Using the algorithm of differential compensation of synchronous interference, it was possible to largely eliminate the negative impact of noise mechanical microvibrations of receiving lenses and improve wind estimates. Comparison with acoustic anemometer data showed that, along with the natural difference between local and integral measurements caused by spatial variations, there is a high correlation between the values of wind speed and the structural characteristic obtained from optical and acoustic measurements.
