The Internet of Things is rapidly connecting resource-constrained devices, introducing new avenues for data generation, yet inadequate cryptographic solutions leave these networks vulnerable to escalating cyber threats. This chapter examines emerging encryption techniques to ensure robust data privacy and integrity in distributed environments. We highlight lightweight encryption suitable for limited hardware resources, end-to-end protocols that safeguard confidentiality across the entire network, and post-quantum methods that future-proof communications against quantum-era assaults. Blockchain integration also emerges as a promising avenue for decentralized trust, while homomorphic encryption supports privacy-preserving analytics. These solutions collectively enhance the security posture of large-scale deployments and reduce breach risks. By synthesizing cutting-edge methods, this work offers a roadmap for resilient and adaptable cryptographic implementations.
