An Alternative Approach to Broscbe’s Model for Catalog Comparisons

Abstract A method with a new statistical approach to Brosche’s (1966) model for catalog comparisons is proposed. The approach is based on the minimum estimate of total errors of catalogued positions. The systematic corrections of the catalogued positions listed in an observational catalog are determined by a statistical criterion. The magnitude equation is represented by the linear variations of each significant coefficient in the adopted model. The method is applied to the catalog comparison Tokyo–FK4 and our catalog system is determined with the accuracy of about ±0.″01.
