The Social Internet of Vehicles (SIoV) integrates the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) and social networks (SN) to create a dynamic information exchange platform for traffic services. Holochain has demonstrated potential to enhance security and privacy in SIoV. Unlike traditional Blockchain systems, Holochain offers a more scalable and efficient framework by leveraging a distributed hash table (DHT) and an agent-centric model, which reduces processing and communication overhead and offers additional resilience properties. In this paper, we propose a trust management, data-sharing, and privacy-preserving scheme tailored for Holochain-based SIoV. Our approach incorporates a lightweight, Holochain-based adaptive trust management scheme that ensures the selection of trusted data-gathering vehicles, enhancing data reliability. The proposed scheme evaluates and maintains vehicle trust-worthiness, facilitating the identification of malicious vehicles. The system leverages a trust hApp to compute a trust score (TS) value for each vehicle based on its behavior, using a set of assessment metrics, including vehicle history, message consistency, interaction frequency, proximity to reported incidents, and reputation within the network. Holochain ensures traceability throughout the malicious vehicle detection process, enhancing transparency and accountability. Simulation results illustrate lower latency and higher transaction throughput compared to traditional linear Blockchains.
