Literature Review on an End‐to‐End Video Surveillance System for Public Safety

This chapter presents a new literature review on an “End-to-End Video Surveillance System for Public Safety”. It reviews the analytics methods to human threats in the cyber and physical space to better identify drawbacks of existing methods. The chapter looks at the impact that cyberspace – the architecture– and physical space – the analysis – could have. Human threats in urban areas can come in various forms. The chapter focuses on analytics in human threats in urban areas; this has been done by studying analytics in abnormal behavior analysis in the crowd, traffic, environment and individuals. Over the years, computing infrastructure has evolved significantly in video surveillance systems. In the field of analytics, the study of crowd behavior is an established area of research, which is often followed by an analysis of individual behavior.
