This chapter explores the transformative role of biometric authentication systems in the banking sector, emphasizing their impact on security and customer experience. Through the analysis of various biometric technologies, such as facial recognition, fingerprint scanning, palm vein recognition, voice identification, and iris recognition, this study highlights their effectiveness in mitigating risks such as fraud, phishing, and spoofing. This chapter also examines case studies from institutions such as BBVA, EVO Banco, Seven Bank, Banco Bradesco, and QNB, highlighting how the strategic implementation of biometrics enhances operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction. Despite these advantages, challenges such as high implementation costs, technological barriers, and data privacy concerns persist. Recommendations for future research and adoption include exploring multimodal biometric solutions, improving interoperability standards, and ensuring private by-design approaches. Biometric authentication has emerged as a pivotal innovation in reshaping banking security and redefining customer interaction.
