This chapter introduces the basic architecture of the IoT, analyzes common security issues in each layer, points out solutions, and finally introduces some application cases of IoT. There are still many remaining open questions unresolved, posing challenges to the widespread application and security of the IoT. The IoT encompasses a wide variety of devices that are distributed extensively. However, the lack of unified management mechanisms often makes it difficult to implement effective security management. Due to incomplete legal regulations regarding IoT management, the responsibility allocation among manufacturers, service providers, and users regarding the security of IoT devices is not entirely clear. In the event of a cyberattack, the delineation of responsibility and accountability may lead to conflicts. The future perspectives and research directions for IoT primarily focus on several key areas. First, the widespread deployment of 5G networks will provide IoT with unprecedented high-speed, low-latency communication capabilities, significantly enhancing data transmission efficiency and system response speed. Furthermore, in response to the challenges posed by global climate change, green IoT has become an important aspect of IoT's future development. It focuses on energy management, environmental monitoring, and other fields. Finally, integrating digital twins with IoT devices enables real-time monitoring and tracking of physical entities, improving the accuracy of their digital representations.
