The Untaught Parts of the Programming Language: A Theoretical Framework

As programming language features are only gradually introduced to novices, many educational programming languages contain language levels. It is, however, hard to link language levels to existing theoretical computing education frameworks. I present an extension of such a theoretical framework in which the untaught parts of the programming language can be expressed, leading to a theoretical underpinning of language levels.
