The Rainbow Display

Abstract The Rainbow Display is an innovative but relatively low-cost (computer display developed in the Computer Laboratory at the University of Cambridge under the leadership of the author. The original motivation was to provide hardware support for window movement. This is very desirable because it is hard to manipulate the content of a colour display by bit-copying as is customary with bit-per-pixel black and white displays. There are too many bits to copy.
