Building Patient Trust in AI Healthcare Agents: Factors Influencing Acceptance and Adoption

AI healthcare agents play a crucial role in addressing physician shortages and improving healthcare efficiency. However, patient trust remains a significant barrier to widespread adoption. This study examines key factors influencing trust in AI healthcare agents, focusing on explainability, ethical concerns, and physician endorsement. This study will address the research question: What factors contribute to patient trust in AI healthcare agents? Using a mixed-methods approach, we combine qualitative interviews and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to analyze trust dimensions and adoption behavior. The findings will provide strategic insights to enhance patient trust, improve AI healthcare implementation, and support physician-AI collaboration.
